Where Rhode Island Travel Takes People
Providence. The capital city is home to Brown University, the Rhode Island School of Design, and the Rhode Island Convention Center. T.F. Green is about 10 miles away, and a pre-arranged ride covers the stretch from the terminal to downtown.
Newport. Newport is known for its Gilded Age mansions, sailing, and summer weddings. It sits across Narragansett Bay from the airport, and the drive crosses the Newport Pell Bridge.
Narragansett and Block Island. The Block Island ferry leaves from Point Judith in Narragansett. A one way ride to the terminal keeps your bags with you from curb to dock.
Westerly and Watch Hill. The southwest corner of Rhode Island draws summer visitors to its beaches and seaside hotels. It sits close to the Connecticut line and the casino resorts in southeastern Connecticut.
Newport Weddings and Summer Weekends
Newport's busiest stretch runs through the summer, with weddings, sailing events, and festivals filling the calendar. Hotels and venues book early, and so do cars.
For weddings, book each transfer as its own trip, from the airport arrival to the ceremony to the ride home. A chauffeur by the hour also works for a day that moves between venues.
